All of our silver products (unless specified) are sterling silver. Most of them are marked “925” on the back or on the clasps.

What is sterling silver?

Sterling silver is by law at least 92.5% silver and up to 7.5% other metals, usually copper. This is the universal standard for sterling silver established more than a century ago. Because silver is a flexible metal, having jewelry made of say, 99.9% silver, would make it too soft for jewelry and more likely to be damaged.

Gemstones

Gemstones such as turquoise, garnet, amethyst and malachite in our products are genuine, as well as the other natural elements combined with our silver, such as coral and mother of pearl. Fresh water pearls are cultivated. Find specific gemstone information here.  

Murano Glass

Original glass jewelry from Murano in Venice is now featured in our catalog. Glass beads and finished pieces have been directly imported from Italy.

Mexican Pewter

Mexican pewter is a combination of 95% aluminum and 5% silicon. It is a versatile non toxic combination that can be made into a wide variety of products, from serving dishes to candle holders. It’s characterized by its slivery shine.

Silver jewelry care

It’s natural for all silver to lose a little glow after exposure to the air, dust and other elements. Silver usually turns yellowish and eventually darker if not polished for shine. This process is completely natural and will happen with all silver.

Silver can be polished with a silver polish cloth. The best silver cloth is a specially treated cloth. It can be obtained at almost any jewelry shop. When buying a polishing cloth or another kind of product for silver care, always verify that the product is specifically for silver. Not all metals can be polished with the same products as they may contain substances that harm certain metals while increasing the shine of others.

Do not use other fabrics or tissue paper to clean silver  as they may scratch it. Do not use silver cleaning solutions for jewelry with stones. The substances in the solution may harm natural stones and enamels. Do not use liquid solutions on jewelry with a brushed or oxidized finish, or with any jewelry that has a porous finish that the liquid can penetrate.

To better keep your beautiful silver shiny longer, store it in sealed plastic bags (like the ones used to keep food fresh) to avoid contact with the air. This will NOT prevent silver from turning yellow, but it will delay the effect.

If you want to be really careful with your jewelry and want to maintain the beauty of the silver shine, don’t expose it to substances such as: soap, lotion, perfume, chlorine from swimming pools. Remove your jewelry before playing sports or doing activities that may impact it or loosen links, gemstones or clasps.
